PowerPoint returns you to the editing view you had selected when you started playing the show. You can also simply advance to the end of the show. By default, PowerPoint shows a blank, all-black screen after the last slide in a slide show. At that point, if you advance one more time, or press Esc, PowerPoint automatically returns you to the editing screen. For details on playing a slide show, see p. 253. Advancing Slides in a Slide Show There are at least four basic and simple ways to advance a slide after you've started a slide show: • Click the primary mouse button (usually the left button).

Click the up arrow to move up one slide, and the down arrow to move down one slide. • On the keyboard, press Page Up to go up one slide or Page Down to go down one slide. In the Slide Sorter view, simply scroll up or down and then double-click the slide you want to go to, and PowerPoint returns to the Normal view for that slide. In either view Normal or Slide Sorter you can press Ctrl+End to go to the end of the slide show or Ctrl+Home to go to the beginning. Tip If you want to preview only the slide you're working on, from the current slide, click the Slide Show button on the Views toolbar at the lower left of the screen and then press Esc to return to your editing.
