As I find the time, I will begin researching the Jani Leverett library in earnest for examples of to Native views of forests as well as species origin legends/myths. The region has also been recognized for it's high endemism; that is many of the species here are found nowhere else. D.; it eliminated most pinyons and junipers established before 1850 in much of New Mexico (Swetnam and Betancourt 1998). From fall colors, move to winter, and find stunning murals of trees in snow, bare trees in the winter, and tall trees braving the coldest months.
