You could say the Alexandre clarinets were Selmer Paris prototype clarinets. Very clean and straight original sixties 16M, nickel-plated keywork, definitely original lacquer, never any major dents or damage. Top tenon has been capped (wood, almost invisible); other two tenons original. 1960's pochette case (Selmer?), modern VanDoren mouthpiece. Now has new pads and corks from our shop. The bigger the woodwind instrument the lower the pitch sound they make.

Visiting artists frequently come to campus, offering master classes and other instruction, and the myriad of performances by the Chicago Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Ravinia Festival and other outstanding organizations create learning opportunities outside the classroom. The bell section is from the same time period, but by Penzel Mueller. The trombone section is most often blamed for slowing down, speeding up, playing the wrong notes, and everything else, this includes getting blamed by their own section (which includes Tenor Saxophones.) This ticks them off and creates a greater risk and danger to just about everyone.

Bring in your used music gear such as guitars, amps, drums, pro sound, keyboards, and band instruments and we will pay you on the spot! Woodwinds such as clarinets and saxophones are "single reed" instruments that produce sound from a single vibrating reed, usually made of a thin section of bamboo. "Double reed" woodwinds make their sound from two vibrating reed sections placed back-to-back. The Klarinet Mailing List, the "granddaddy" and largest of the Clarinet related mailing lists, is run by Woodwind.

Flutes are most often used in symphony orchestras and jazz ensembles. Octave key touch is like on a later 6M alto, curved to fit the pearl button. Very clean example with 100% original silver plate, gold wash inside the bell, snap in pads, original case (funky, but OK), with new pads and corks. Many players tell us the saxes from Nauheim (just south of Frankfurt) are superior to those being made today. Buffet commissioned other manufacturers to make lower-priced clarinets for students or amateur players branded as Evette, or “Evette sponsored by Buffet.” But by the 1970s, Buffet was making Evette and Evette & Schaeffer brand clarinets like the E11 in its own factories.

Dances became formalized into instrumental suites and were composed by virtually all composers of the era. Bands like Tower of Power, Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears are synonymous with horns. The instrument appears to have had a name at one time, now illegible. The Selmer 22 Alto Clarinet exhibits all of the characteristics of the Selmer line, a rich tone, great scale and incredible projection. The fake Gwyneth says: “I’d like to be the clarinet… of course, the saxophone wants its turn to speak, which is only fair, but it must wait for the clarinet to finish.” 7.

These countries still use a direct descendant of the Mueller clarinet known as the Oehler system clarinet. [59] [60] Also, some contemporary Dixieland players continue to use Albert system clarinets. [61] Other key systems have been developed, many built around modifications to the basic Boehm system: Full Boehm; [62] Mazzeo,; [63] McIntyre; [64] NX; [65] and Reform-Boehm. [66] systems, for example. Fine example from a very good year, this one looks as if it's never been played.

The tube ends in the form of a small bell, whose vibration, along with the sound emanating from the keyholes, contributes to the sonic signature of the instrument. We’re proud that only 1.75% of the items shipped are ever returned. I was out of there. (I'm an amateur hobbyist, not a "real" musician by far, but I've played for years and know a lot about the industry). Some instruments, such as organ pipes and the pan flute, require that air be directed into one or more of several tubes of varying length and circumference.

Acoustically, this makes the tone hole function as if it were larger, but its main function is to allow the air column to follow the curve up through the tone hole (surface tension) instead of "blowing past" it under the increasingly directional frequencies of the upper registers. [23] The fixed reed and fairly uniform diameter of the clarinet give the instrument an acoustical behavior approximating that of a cylindrical stopped pipe. [18] Recorders use a tapered internal bore to overblow at the 8th (octave) when its thumb/register hole is pinched open while the clarinet, with its cylindrical bore, overblows on the 12th.

Its our service after the sale promise and has been since 1953! Above this, from High C upwards, the tone is more flutelike, and becomes shrill at a stronger dynamic, of Forte, or louder. Adjusting the angle of the bore taper controls the frequencies of the overblown notes (harmonics). [18] Changing the mouthpiece's tip opening and the length of the reed changes aspects of the harmonic timbre or voice of the instrument because this changes the speed of reed vibrations. [18] Generally, the goal of the clarinetist when producing a sound is to make as much of the reed vibrate as possible, making the sound fuller, warmer, and potentially louder.
